HISTORIC BUILDINGS • AIKEN-RHETT HOUSE: The Aiken-Rhett House, 48 Elizabeth Street. Built by merchant John Robinson in 1818 and greatly expanded and redecorated
by Governor and Mrs. William Aiken, Jr. in the 1830's and 1850's, the property has survived virtually unaltered since 1858.
The original outbuildings including kitchens, slave quarters, stables, privies and cattle sheds offer a glimpse of life in

singer, songwriter and storyteller, heads up cast doing Lowcountry folk songs, spirituals and telling tales of Sea Island,

• PINCKNEY SITE: Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, 1254 Long Point Road, Snee Farm, Mount Pleasant. 28-acre historic site is a remnant of Pinckney's 715-acre
plantation, historically known as Snee Farm. Interpretive exhibits relate history of Pinckney, an early statesman who contributed

• MAGNOLIA CEMETERY: Oldest public cemetery
in Charleston, 70 Cunnington Ave. Founded 1849. Listed on National
Register of Historic Places. Final resting place for generations of Southern leaders (Gov. Thomas Bennett, Langdon Cheves,
Horace L. Hunley, Robert Barnwell Rhett), hundreds of Confederate military men including five generals (Micah Jenkins, Arthur
Manigault, Roswell Ripley, James Conner, C.H. Stevens). Accessible from Meeting Street and Morrison Drive; take right off Meeting onto Cunnington, go to end of street.
